Our mom is our first love.  It is hard to deny the bond between a mother and her children.  The second Sunday of May is the day we set aside to honor our mothers. Anna Jarvis of Grafton, West Virginia, encouraged the observance of this special day in 1908.  In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day an official U.S. holiday.  Mother’s Day commemorates and celebrates the best mom in the world: your mom!  Mom, our first secure friend, wiped away our tears, calmed our fears, and corrected and talked sense into us.  Our mothers are our greatest cheerleaders, encouragers, and confidants.

Mothers come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and personality types.  Some are birth mothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, and grandmothers.  Some stepped into the role simply filling in the gaps, and many are the ones who honor them with grateful hearts for making a difference.

Mothers are remarkable and deserve to be celebrated and honored daily. They are the ones who bring us into this world and nurture us with unconditional love, care, and support. They are our first teachers, role models, and pillars of strength.

Mothers are often the ones who sacrifice their own needs and desires for the sake of their children. They are the ones who wake up early and stay up late to ensure that their children have everything they need. They are the ones who are always there to listen, to comfort, and to guide.

A mother’s love is one of the most potent forces in the universe. It is a love that knows no bounds, transcends all boundaries, and endures through all life’s ups and downs. It is a love that is unconditional, selfless, and unwavering.

So let us take a moment to honor and celebrate all the mothers who have made a difference in our lives. Let us express our gratitude and appreciation for all the love, care, and support they have given us. And let us strive to be the kind of people who make our mothers proud.

My mother and grandmothers have been gone for a long time, but I think of them often and remember them fondly, and I will never forget their love and influence in my life.

Happy Mothers Day
