I did not watch the new year’s arrival last night. I was slightly under the weather and went to bed before the big event.  This has been my pattern for several years.  Occasionally, I am up at midnight most of the years I am not!  I always know when it is happening because there are always fireworks or noise making throughout the neighborhood.

There is nothing like a fresh start.  It seems like a logical time to make changes or resolutions.  The most popular someone tells us to exercise, lose weight, liquidate debt and be a better spouse or parent.

This year I had made commitments as I have most years.  Last year I used a daily devotional book written by the late Dennis Kinlaw and I as I read yesterday’s entry it was like saying goodbye to an old friend.

This year I will read the ESV daily Bible, also my friend Clark Armstrong sent me his through the Bible in a year program, I have decided to use the ESV in the morning and Clark‘s in the evening.

I have a few other commitments I have made.  Over the years I have had a reading goal.

One goal for this year for all of us should be to reflect Christ in our daily walk. I have many friends who keep a gratitude journal, and or a kindness journal.  I find pausing every day to express gratitude and diligently seeking ways to show kindness to family and friends and strangers.

Well, whatever you decided the artist’s pallet is clean and you can mix the colors however you choose.  This would be a good time to stop complaining about the mess and decide with God’s help to allow him to take the mess and turn you into His masterpiece!
